RF Explorer Pro WiFi Analyzer Mode

This special mode displays WiFi channels for the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, or 6GHz bands.

The WiFi Analyzer Mode is a specialized feature designed to assist RF users optimize their wireless network performance across the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz frequency bands. This mode enables the analysis of WiFi networks to maximize efficiency and reliability.

By effectively managing channel selection, optimizing signal strength, and identifying sources of interference, users can create a stable and efficient wireless environment across all mentioned frequency bands. This mode empowers users to make informed decisions and adjustments, ensuring a high-quality WiFi experience.

WiFi 2.4GHz Band

This band operates in the 2.4GHz frequency range and is commonly used by older WiFi standards (802.11b/g/n). It provides broader coverage but may suffer from more interference due to its popularity

Display view for channels from 1 to 13 including center channel frequency and channel power.

The higher power channel detected is depicted in a different color.

Note

2.4GHz channels are actually overlapping by definition, but are displayed in this mode as non-overlapping to simplify visualization.

The replay time for navigation in the 2.4GHz band is limited to approximately 5 minutes and to 30 minutes for 5GHz band

WiFi 5GHz Band

Display view for 28 channels defined for 20MHz/40MHz/80MHz/160MHz width, including center channel frequency and channel power.

This band operates in the 5GHz frequency range and is used by newer WiFi standards (802.11a/ac/n). It offers higher data rates and less interference, making it ideal for high-performance applications.

WiFi 6GHz Band

Display view for multiple channels defined for 20MHz/40MHz/80MHz/160MHz width, showing center channel frequency and channel power.

This band operates in the 6GHz frequency range and is supported by the latest WiFi standard (802.11ax). It offers ultra-low latency, higher capacity, and less congestion, making it ideal for dense environments and advanced wireless applications.

WiFi Analyzer Display

For the 5GHz and 6GHz WiFi bands, you can select which channels to display by navigating to Config > Display in the menu. From there, choose between the available channel widths: 20MHz, 40MHz, 80MHz, or 160MHz.

WiFi Channel Data Captured Over RBW 2.5MHz

To enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of your WiFi channel data capture, it is defined a Resolution Bandwidth (RBW) setting of 2.5 MHz.

This setting is strategically chosen to optimize your scan process and yield the most favorable results, especially in environments with significant RF activity.

By selecting an RBW of 2.5 MHz for your WiFi channel data capture, you can strike a balance between data accuracy and scan efficiency. This setting enables you to make well-informed decisions regarding channel allocation, interference mitigation, and network optimization, ultimately leading to an improved WiFi experience.

Advantages of RBW 2.5 MHz

The RBW of 2.5 MHz provides a balance between fine-grained frequency resolution and scan efficiency.

It allows you to discern subtle frequency details while avoiding excessive data volume that might slow down the scan.
