Firmware v1.20 available

Dear RF Explorer Pro Users,

As we celebrate this festive season, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to you - our amazing community. Your trust and support inspire us to work tirelessly, delivering constant enhancements and innovation to RF Explorer Pro.

This year, we're thrilled to bring you a special holiday gift: Firmware Version 1.20 - a FREE upgrade with advanced features for all Frequency Coordination licensed units.

What's New in Version 1.20?

New Embedded TV Station Database

TV Station database interface for RF Explorer PRO

Simplify wireless frequency coordination with the latest TV Station data for the US (updated with the FCC) and 40 other countries. Quickly include all exclusion channels for any location.

With this update, you can:

  • Select by Country and Postcode: Quickly configure exclusion channels for a specific area based on standardized postal codes.
  • Search by City Name: Simply enter a full city name to automatically retrieve exclusion channels relevant to that location.
  • Pinpoint by Latitude and Longitude: For maximum precision, define your location using geographic coordinates to tailor the exclusion setup exactly to your needs.

Supercharged Performance

Exclusion ranges can now be removed from sweep

Experience significantly faster analyzer sweeps - now up to 2x to 5x faster - thanks to the new ability to remove exclusion ranges directly from the sweep process. This optimization not only speeds up your workflow but also provides a smoother and more responsive experience, especially when managing complex exclusion setups.
Looking ahead, a future firmware upgrade will allow you to hide exclusion ranges from the screen entirely, further expanding the usable spectrum and providing an even clearer view of the frequencies that matter most for your workflow. Stay tuned for more enhancements!

Expanded Device Support

We've expanded the RF Explorer Pro's compatibility with 200 new devices from top brands, ensuring your tool remains at the forefront of wireless audio technology. This update includes several previously unsupported brands, such as Deity Microphones, Sound Devices, and Radio Active Designs, alongside major updates to existing manufacturers like Audio-Technica, Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, and Lectrosonics.

By collaborating closely with major manufacturers, we ensure the included database stays up to date with the latest devices, offering seamless compatibility for your professional wireless audio deployments. Whether you're working in live events, broadcasting, or large-scale productions, RF Explorer Pro keeps you covered.

Upgrade Now and Enhance Your RF Explorer Pro

RF Explorer Pro is a unique tool that integrates advanced Frequency Coordination features with powerful Spectrum Analysis, giving you unmatched precision for wireless audio deployments.

At RF Explorer, we're committed to helping you achieve excellence in wireless audio management. We work hard to deliver meaningful updates like this, and it's your continued support that makes it possible.

Introducing new RF Explorer Signal Generator Combo

We are happy to introduce the new enhanced version of the RF Explorer Signal Generator.

The new model includes an internal expansion board to enable three major requests from advanced customers:

  • Frequency range now starts at 100KHz and covers up to 6GHz, compared to the baseline generator starts at 23.4MHz.
  • Output power range is no longer limited to 8 discrete levels, it can provide calibrated output with 0.25dB steps in range of -40 to +10dBm. Uncalibrated power output can go from -60 to +15dBm (a future firmware upgrade will allow up to +18dBm in certain frequencies)
  • Output signal is now strongly filtered for harmonics wideband. See a comparative example below at 25MHz as a good reference of the new harmonic filter in action in the time domain, measured with an oscilloscope.

The same improvement in the frequency domain shows the original signal output from the baseline RF Explorer Signal Generator and the output from the new Combo model.

This new and improved functionality can be added to any existing RF Explorer Signal Generator by simply plugin a RF Explorer Signal Generator Expansion board on it. A challenging design which took over 2 years of multiple refinements to find the best approach to deliver this wideband filtering capabilities at this cost and size.

For additional details:

  • RF Explorer Signal Generator Combo - specifications and datasheet
  • RF Explorer Signal Generator user manual - it includes new detailed sections for fine amplitude control, harmonic filtering and enhanced capabilities

Where to order:

Additional options for ordering from local distributors will be available in the next few days.

RFTrack for Android: TV Whitespace RF Explorer analyzer

Our friends at ICTP in Italy are presenting a global effort to record TV White Spaces in a worldwide database. These are RF frequencies formerly allocated by TV broadcast but not actually used. By detecting these whitespaces certain licensed and unlicensed transmissions can benefit from it. This project is using RFTrack Android app and a connected RF Explorer to capture GPS & RF activity, then uploaded to a global repository.

And this is all offered for free. As a community we can benefit from a global database with this information being timely updated. Contributors are appreciated: all you need is a RF Explorer and an Android device, record data from your local city and upload into the database.

The ICTP TVWS global database is available on this link: wireless.ictp.it/tvws/
